Abstract

Psikoloji disiplinin yakından incelediği kavramlar arasında narsisizm, son dönemlerde ön plana çıkmaktadır. Kavram ile ilgili hem kuramsal hem de uygulamalı çalışmaların sayısı gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Bu çalışma narsisizm kavramı ile ilgili genel bir tartışma yaparak, alanda son dönemde meydana gelen gelişmeleri incelenmektedir. Kavramın genel bir terim olarak ortaya çıkışından bir kişilik bozukluğuna dönüşümünün tarihçesinin ele alındığı bu makalede, narsisizm ile ilgili güncel tartışmalar da değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışma bu değerlendirmeyi, kavramın gelişimini, türlerini, etiyolojisini, tansını ve tedavisini incelemek amacı ile yapmaktadır. Kapsamlı bir değerlendirme sunan bu çalışma, kavram ile ilgili gerek kuramsal gerekse de uygulamaya yönelik öneriler ile sonlanmaktadır.

Abstract

Narcissism, among the concepts closely examined by the discipline of psychology, has recently come to the fore. The number of both theoretical and applied studies on narcissism is increasing day by day. This study examines the recent developments in the field by making a general discussion about the concept of narcissism. In this article, which covers the history of narcissism from its emergence as a general term to a personality disorder, current debates about narcissism are also evaluated. The study makes this evaluation with the aim of examining the development, types, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of narcissism. This study, which offers a comprehensive evaluation, ends with both theoretical and practical suggestions about narcissism.
