The ability to communicate in a common language in the shipping industry is crucial in determining the successful communication among crew members of different nationalities. Indeed, the issue of seafarers’ training in Maritime English has been of great importance due to its effect on safety on board. The present paper raises some main issues to be addressed in the design and implementation of a Maritime English course. First, there will be an investigation of the basic arguments regarding the importance of studying Maritime English. Then there will be an analysis of the distinct features of this English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course in order to investigate, afterwards, students’ needs and expectations of a Maritime English course. The main skills that the research focuses on are reading comprehension ability, writing skill, oral communication skill and cultural competence development. It also explains the methodological approach the teacher should follow in order to improve students’ skills and competences in reading, writing, oral communication and the cultural aspect of language. Furthermore, the paper suggests the pedagogical approach to be adopted in the course, based on Humanistic Language Teaching principles such as cooperative learning, student-centered methodology and learner autonomy approach.

Leadership is the ability to motivate people to take action to achieve a common goal. It means directing colleagues and employees in a job with a strategy to meet the needs of the institution. This definition offers readiness to inspire others. Effective leadership offers ideas, but these ideas cannot be realized unless they communicate with others enough to act as they want leaders to act. The concept of teacher leadership is the ability to plan classroom activities emphatically and effectively by developing an instructional vision and sharing, and to have and develop functional roles in school activities. The school principal has roles in defining teacher leadership, creating healthy relationships, encouraging them to assume and develop leadership roles, and providing feedback on developments. This literature review study was conducted to examine the roles and methods of principals in improving teacher leadership.

Place of Kemal Uludağ in Contemporary Turkish Ceramics Art

The subject of the article is Kemal Uludağ’s place in contemporary Turkish ceramic art, together with his artist identity and works. In the research, the format language and iconographic analysis of selected ceramic works, bearing the artist's signature, were conducted. Based on the technical skills and artistic expression preferences seen in the works, the innovations that Uludağ brought to the art style and Turkish ceramics were attempted to be determined.
Ceramics, which has taken place in human life in Anatolia since the Neolithic period, has reached the present day by taking shape and developing according to the lifestyle of the societies it belongs to. Ceramic, which takes place in human life as functional architectural elements and auxiliary materials, has become a material that draws attention by painting and sculpture artists in the middle of the 20th century and is used to embody emotions and thoughts, by getting rid of functionality. The modernization process of ceramics, which developed with this European-centered innovation in the use of ceramics, was also reflected in Turkey, and ceramic production, which has a deep-rooted history in Anatolia, took on a new face.
In the 1950s, ceramic works began to be produced by contemporary Turkish ceramic artists, which developed in parallel with Europe, completely moved away from the functional aspect, and completely embodied forms of artistic expressions. The adventure of contemporary Turkish ceramics continues today, thanks to ceramic artists, who show creativity and productivity in the country and around the world. As one of these artists, Kemal Uludağ makes great contributions to both the feelings of Turkish society and the art of ceramics with his unique art language and the subjects he examines.

Kârs, which have begun to be forgotten in Turkish Music forms, are mostly more voluminous compared to other forms and are large form works in which maqam and rhythm transitions are frequently used in terms of content. Kârs, of which there are many examples in our repertoire, have survived to the present day, although some of the early examples have been tampered with. Considering that we have around sixty kâr notes today, it is understood that a large number of kârs, whose lyrics we could only find in the old magazines, were forgotten. Kârs, which is one of the most important forms of our musical cultural heritage, loses its popularity over time and cannot be among the forms that are frequently performed. In this study, all examples of current profits from the first period to the last period have been tried to be examined in terms of form structure and variables. Thus, the data on the kâr form were analyzed, and the similarities and differences in the form characteristics of the kârs were revealed. The results obtained were compared with the theoretical data on the kâr form in written sources and scientific judgements were made about the form structure of the Kâr Form in line with the hypothesis.

Modernism was formed as an indicator of the progress of industrial society with the foundations of reason, technique and rationality. Modernist thought aimed to bring an order to everything with a systematic and analytical understanding, but this project, which did not accept man with his material and spiritual existence, chose beyond reason as a search, especially in art and philosophy. Modernism, which developed as an expression of mind and consciousness, fell into a contradiction at this point. Two great world wars, which especially affected the first half of the 20th century, brought an end to the dialectic of the mind, and many artists tried to enter the borders of the unconscious through the path opened by Freud. Concepts such as progress, development and technology, as well as concepts such as alienation, restlessness, meaninglessness, and anxiety in the individual of modern society, are actually indicators of the spiritual bankruptcy of the individual.

With the adaptation of press technologies in contemporary ceramic production, there has been effective improvements and innovations in the production. The application of marble, tree, and stone visuals, which already exist in the nature, on the surface of the ceramic in accordance with the original material has caused a rise in the added value of the ceramic tiles. Being the new technology devices, Cruse scanners which enable the designs of the ceramic surfaces being derived from the natural objects has been in use in ceramic industry in recent times. Cruse scanners are tools that are not only used in ceramic decoration industry but they are also convenient in archives, museums, and the reproduction of the art works. The desired surface can be digitalized and transferred to computers in a really high resolution for the production of wooden floors, ceramic tiles, laminated flooring, fabrics, furniture design, and wallpapers. Owing to this, it is possible to create new surface designs and apply on ceramic surfaces. The purpose of the research is to make research about the usage of Cruse scanning device in the ceramic sector and analyze the impact of the technology on the methods of ceramic production. The content and the topic of the research is the transfer of the natural or artificial texture towards ceramic surfaces via Cruse scanning device. The reason why and in which fields Cruse scanning devices are preferred, how they are used, the visual quality, and the examples in Turkey constitutes the content of this research. In the study, the working principles of Cruse scanning device, its usage in ceramic sector, and its contribution to the sector has been analyzed. There has not been enough information related to Cruse scanners which is one of the devices used in ceramic sector. Due to lack of data as a result of the applied literature surveys, this study is expected to contribute and turn into a new resource.
