Abstract
Gelişen teknolojilerle birlikte belgeseller gibi görsel-işitsel araçların da öğretim materyali olarak kullanımı artmıştır. Belgeseller, öğrencilere, yakın çevrelerinden uzakta meydana gelen olay ve olguları öğrenme fırsatı veren görsel materyallerdir. Bu araştırma, coğrafya öğretiminde belgesel izlemenin öğrenci başarısına etkisini tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmada, coğrafya öğretiminde belgesel izlemenin öğrenci başarısına etkisi, Coğrafya Dersi Öğretim Programı-2018’ de yer alan “9.1.4. Dünya’nın şekli ve hareketlerinin etkilerini değerlendirir” kazanımının içeriğindeki konular ile tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu seçkisiz desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, 2018- 2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında, Ankara ili Çankaya ilçesindeki bir Anadolu lisesinde 9. sınıf öğrencileriyle yürütülmüştür. Bu okuldaki 9. sınıflar arasından rastgele seçimle iki şubeden biri deney diğeri kontol grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 21 deney grubu, 21 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 42 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada, veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen, güvenirlik analizi yapılan (KR-20 değeri: 0,735) ve uzman görüşleri alınarak düzenlenen 26 maddelik “Dünyanın Şekli ve Hareketlerinin Etkileri Başarı Testi” kullanılmıştır. Başarı testi, deney ve kontrol gruplarına ön test ve son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, kontrol ve deney grubu öğrencilerinin ön test- son test akademik başarı puanları arasında son test lehine anlamlı bir fark oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının fark puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık oluşmamıştır. Öğretimde belgesellerin kullanımıyla ilgili çalışmalarda, belgesellerin sadece izletilmesi değil, etkinlikler yoluyla çeşitli ürünler ortaya koyacak şekilde kullanılması önerilir.

With the advancements in technology, the use of visual and auditory tools such as documentaries as instructional materials has increased. Documentaries are visual materials that give students the opportunity to learn about events and phenomena that occur far from their immediate surroundings.This research aims to determine the impact of watching documentaries on student achievement in geography education. In this study, the effect of watching documentaries in geography education on student achievement was attempted to be identified through the topics in the content of the "9.1.4. Evaluate the shape and movements of the world" competence stated in the Geography Course Teaching Program-2018. The research employed a quantitative research method using a pre-test post-test control group quasi-experimental design. The study was conducted with 9th-grade students in an Anatolian high school in the Çankaya district of Ankara during the 2018-2019 academic year. One class was randomly selected as the experimental group and the other as the control group. The sample of the study consisted of 42 students, with 21 in the experimental group and 21 in the control group. In the research, a 26-item "Effects of the Shape and Movements of the World Achievement Test" developed by the researcher, with a reliability analysis conducted (KR-20 value: .735) and organized by taking expert opinions, was used as the data collection tool. The achievement test was applied to the experimental and control groups as a pre-test and post-test. According to the findings of the research, a significant difference in favor of the post-test was determined between the academic achievement scores of the control and experimental groups. However, no significant difference was observed in the difference scores between the experimental and control groups. n studies related to the use of documentaries in education, it is recommended that documentaries be used not only by watching but also by producing various products through activities.
