Abstract
Gerek yapılan çalışmalar gerekse eğitim sistemine yönelik düzenlemelerde okul öncesi eğitimin eğitim hayatının en önemli süreçleri arasında yer aldığı kabul görmüştür. Okul öncesi eğitimi çağındaki çocukların öğrenmeye açık ve istekli oldukları ve öğrenme yeteneklerinin üst seviyede olduğu söylenebilir. Bu bağlamda, okul öncesi eğitiminde yeteneklerin geliştirilmesi ve çocuğun eğitim hayatına önemli bir temel atmasını sağlamak adına yeni öğrenme tekniklerinin geliştirilmesi zorunlu hale gelmiştir. Bu yöntemler arasında yer alan materyal kullanımı, çocukların öğretiminde öğretmenlere önemli katkılar sağlamaktadır. Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı'na göre, öğretmen adaylarının belirli yeterliliklere sahip olmaları beklenmektedir. Bu kapsamda öğretmenlik mesleği eğitiminde yeni ders içerikleri oluşturulmaktadır. Materyal kullanımı da bu ders içeriklerine dahil edilen öğretim teknikleri arasında yerini almıştır. Öğretmenlik mesleği, kişisel ve mesleki değerleri kapsayan üç ana başlık altında belirli yetkinlikleri gerektirir. Bunlar: öğrencileri tanıma; öğretme ve öğrenme süreci ve mesleki bilgi, mesleki beceri, tutum ve değerlerdir. Öğretme ve öğrenme sürecinde öğretmenlerden öğrencilerinin ihtiyaçlarına yönelik materyaller geliştirmeleri beklenmektedir. Ayrıca, okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin özel alan yeterlikleri için gelişim alanları olarak şu başlıklar tanımlanmıştır; aile ile iletişim, aile katılımı ve aile eğitimi; değerlendirme, iletişim, yaratıcılık ve estetik, okul ve toplumla iş birliği ve profesyonel geliştirme şeklindedir.
“Gelişim alanları” yeterlik alanı incelendiğinde, okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin materyal seçebilmeleri, kullanabilmeleri ve hazırlayabilmeleri gerektiği ifade edilebilir. Bu bağlamda okul öncesi öğretmenleri bu yeterlikleri kazanma, özellikle materyal geliştirmede ve kullanmada kendini geliştirme yönünde üzerine düşeni yapmalıdır. Okul öncesi eğitimde öğretmenlerin materyal kullanımının önemi, öğretim sürecine etkileri ve ortaya çıkan sorunların belirlenmesine yönelik bu çalışmada, ikincil kaynaklardan yararlanılarak yapılan SWOT analizi yoluyla, materyal kullanımının güçlü ve zayıf yönleri ile fırsatları ve tehditleri ortaya konmuştur.

Abstract
It has been accepted that pre-school education is one of the most important processes of education life, both in studies and regulations regarding the education system. It can be said that preschool children are open and willing to learn and their learning abilities are at a high level. In this context, it has become imperative to develop new learning techniques in order to develop skills in preschool education and to lay an important foundation for the child's education life. The use of materials, which is among these methods, provides important contributions to teachers in the teaching of children. According to the Ministry of National Education, prospective teachers are expected to have certain qualifications. In this context, new course contents are created in teaching profession education. The use of materials has also taken its place among the teaching techniques included in these course contents. The teaching profession requires certain competencies under three main headings covering personal and professional values. These include: getting to know students; teaching and learning process and professional knowledge, professional skills, attitudes and values. In the teaching and learning process, teachers are expected to develop materials that meet the needs of their students. In addition, the following titles have been defined as development areas for the special field competencies of preschool teachers; communication with family, family involvement and family education; assessment, communication, creativity and aesthetics, collaboration with school and society, and professional development.
When the "development areas" competence area is examined, it can be stated that preschool teachers should be able to select, use and prepare materials. In this context, preschool teachers should do their part in gaining these competencies, especially in developing and using materials. In this study, which aims to determine the importance of teachers' use of materials in preschool education, their effects on the teaching process and the problems that arise, the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the use of materials are revealed through the SWOT analysis made using secondary sources.
