Abstract
Her ne kadar Soğuk Savaş süreci XX. yüzyılın sonlarına doğru son bulmuşsa da Baltık coğrafyasında o dönemi aratmayan söylemler zaman zaman kamuoyu gündemini meşgul etmektedir. Soğuk Savaş sürecinde mevcut blokların sınırları Baltık coğrafyasından geçmekteydi. Bu nedenle sıcak çatışma ihtimalinin en yüksek olduğu bölgeler arasında yer almaktaydı. Bugün de enerji, iktisadi ve ticari kaygılar nedeniyle Baltık coğrafyası cazibesini bölgeyle ilgilenen taraflar için sürdürmektedir. Estonya da Letonya ve Litvanya ile birlikte Baltık coğrafyasının kuzeyinde konumlanmıştır. Ancak Eston halkı genel olarak ortak bir Baltık kimliğini kabul etmemektedir. Bunun yerine Fin halkı ile akrabalığa vurgu yapılmakta ya da müstakil Eston kimliği ön plana çıkartılmak istenmektedir. Estonya ulusal kimliğinin gelişimi ve bağımsızlık mücadelesi ile Estonya’nın güncel dış politika tercihleri üzerinde okurların fikir sahibi olmaları bu makalenin temel amacı olmuştur.

Abstract
Although the Cold War process ended towards the end of XXth century, discourses that sound like that period, occupy the public agenda from time to time in the Baltic geography. During the Cold War, the borders of the existing blocks passed through the Baltic geography. For this reason, it was among the regions where hot clashes were most likely. Today, due to energy, economic and commercial concerns, the Baltic geography continues its attraction for parties interested in the region. Estonia is also located in the North of the Baltic geography along with Latvia and Lithuania. However, the Estonian people generally do not accept a common Baltic identity. Instead, an emphasis is placed on kinship with the Finnish people or an individual Estonian identity is to be hihglighted. The main purpose of this article has been tol et the readers gain knowledge about the development of the Estonian national identity and its struggle for independence and Estonia’s current foreign policy preferences.
