Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de asrın felaketi olarak adlandırılan 6 Şubat depremini afet bilinci açısından analiz etmektir. 2023-2024 Eğitim Öğretim döneminde Kocaeli Üniversitesinde Özel Güvenlik ve Koruma programında okuyan 124 öğrenci araştırmaya katılmış olup araştırmada SPSS 15.0 programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada öğrencilerin yaşanılabilecek herhangi bir afet olayında afet bilinçlerini ölçmek hedeflenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları öğrencilerin yaşanılan felaketten belli bir oranda ders aldığı ancak bu bilincin yeteri kadar olmadığı ve ana konularda öğrencilerin çok yetersiz olduğu tespitine varılmıştır. Özellikle çekirdek aileden başlayarak bina, sokak ve mahalle ile ilgili bir afet planı olmadığı, ilk yardım konusunda eksiklerin olduğu, yaşanılan konutlarda da Dask ve ev sigortalarının yapılmadığı görülmüş olup yaşanılan 6 Şubat depreminden büyük dersler çıkarılmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Konunun öneminden hareketle büyük felaketler yaşanmadan kişilerin bilgilendirme ve bilinçlendirme eğitimlerinin önemi ortaya çıkmaktadır. Türkiye gibi deprem coğrafyasında yaşayanların afet bilincine sahip olması için gereken eğitim müfredatında zorunlu dersler, kamu spotları, proje yarışmaları vb. gibi sürdürülebilir bilince acilen ihtiyaç vardır.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the February 6 earthquake, which is called the disaster of the century in Turkiye, in terms of disaster awareness. 124 students studying in the Private Security and Protection program at Kocaeli University in the 2023-2024 Academic Year participated in the study and the SPSS 15.0 program was used in the study. The aim of the study was to measure the disaster awareness of the students in any possible disaster event. The results of the study showed that the students learned a certain amount of lessons from the disaster experienced, but this awareness was not sufficient and the students were very inadequate in the main subjects. It was seen that there was no disaster plan for the building, street and neighborhood, especially starting from the nuclear family, there were deficiencies in first aid, and DASK and home insurance were not made in the residences, and it was determined that no major lessons were learned from the February 6 earthquake. Considering the importance of the subject, the importance of informing and raising awareness of people before major disasters occur becomes evident. There is an urgent need for sustainable awareness such as compulsory courses, public service announcements, project competitions, etc. in the education curriculum required for those living in earthquake geography like Turkey to have disaster awareness.
