Health tourism has shown significant developments in recent years with the support of developments in health, technology and transportation sector. In many countries, health tourism activities can be carried out within the scope of getting better health and care services, benefiting from healing water resources, and benefiting from therapy and care services for the upper age group. Health tourism does not only cover medical activities, but it also include a wide range of activities from accommodation opportunities to touristic tours for the person and their companions. Qualified workforce as well as the number of health facilities with high technology in Turkey has been increasing with growing demand for health tourism. İzmir being Turkey's third biggest city, has considerable potential in terms of human capital, tourism infrastructure and cultural richnesses for health tourism. The aim of the research is to analyze the current situation and the potential of İzmir province within the context of health tourism. Within this context, interviews were made with firms in health sector, accommodation and tourism companies operating as the main actors in the scope of health tourism in İzmir. As a result of the findings, it has been determined that İzmir has an important potential in terms of health tourism, however she cannot reveal its potential sufficiently due to some deficiencies.
