Abstract


MARSIYA AND MARSIYA WRITING IN CLASSICAL TURKISH LITERATURE AND URDU LITERATURE

Marsiya is a type of verse written after the death of a person. It has taken the name "Lament" in folk literature in the genre of verse and “lament” is usually the cries that are spoken like a wailing after the deceased. Marsiya genre of verse is also called "sagu" in Turkish literature., on the one hand, poems written with pain after the deceased and they are poems that describe the bravery and heroism of the deceased. Marsiya verse genre, poems are written in couplets and aruz meter is used. Its language is heavy and at the same time, it is exaggerated because it is used to praise the statesmen. The first examples of the Marsiya verse genre are given in Arabic literature, and the verse type poems of Marsiya were written to praise the statesmen. The verse genre of Marsiya came from Arabic literature to Persian literature. In Persian literature, poems related to the elegy were written by Rudegi. The first example of elegy in classical Turkish literature in XIV. century. It is a poem that expresses the sadness felt by Ahmedî for the death of Süleyman Shah in the XI. century. Famous poets Necâtî, Mesîhî, Cafer Çelebi and Cem Sultan along with Ahmedî in Classical Turkish Literature wrote poems in the verse genre of marsiya. Marsiya in Classical Turkish literature lived its golden period in the XVI. century and during this period, Bâkî, Hayalî, Hayretî, Lâmi'î and Kemâl Paşazâde wrote poems in the verse genre of Marsiya. Marsiya is also included in other languages in eastern literatures. In Urdu literature, the verse style of Marsiya expresses the sorrow of the death of a deceased person. In Urdu classical poetry, marsiya is written in the form of tarce-e bend and tarkib-e bend. In the classical poetry of Urdu literature, the first elegy was written by the Deccan and after the Deccan, in Delhi and Luknow poems in the style of verse were written. Quli Qutb Shah and Abdullah Qutb Shah are the first marsiya writers in Urdu literature, and Anis and Dabir are the most well-known poets in Urdu literature classical poetry and identified with the marsiya. Mir Taki Mir and Mirza Rafi, who gave works in all kinds of verse forms and genres in Urdu literature, wrote poems in the style of verse in the verse.
